Christmas Tree Cinnamon Rolls

Once you've trimmed the real Christmas tree, make even more memories by baking these tree-shaped cinnamon rolls for breakfast! Kids will love frosting and topping their own trees with sprinkles and candies for a special morning treat.
- 1 can (496 g) refrigerated Pillsbury™ Grands!™ Cinnamon Rolls with Icing (5 count)
- 125 g (half of 250 g package) cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 cup icing sugar
- Green gel food colour
- Multicoloured holiday sprinkles or green coloured sugar, as desired
- 10 yellow gumdrops
- 10 miniature peanut butter cups or chewy caramels in milk chocolate, unwrapped, as desired
- Heat oven to 350°F (180°C). Line large cookie sheets with cooking parchment paper.
- Separate dough into 5 rolls. Unroll each roll, and cut dough in half lengthwise to make 10 strips of dough. Weave each strip of dough back and forth into a triangular tree shape, with dough touching each other. Place 2 inches apart on cookie sheet; secure top and bottom of dough with toothpicks. Flatten dough slightly with hands.
- Bake about 10 minutes or until light golden brown and firm enough to turn. Carefully turn over using toothpicks on both ends of dough; bake 4 to 7 minutes or until golden brown. Remove to cooling rack. Cool completely, about 30 minutes. Remove toothpicks from trees; discard.
- Meanwhile, in medium bowl, place icing and cream cheese; beat with spoon until well blended. Stir in icing sugar until mixed well. Tint icing mixture with green food colour to desired colour. Cover and refrigerate until ready to decorate.
- On flat side of each cinnamon roll tree, spread icing mixture to cover. Add sprinkles or sugar to decorate. Add gumdrop at top of tree to make star and peanut butter cup or chocolate caramel to make tree trunk (securing with a small amount of frosting or placing next to bottom of tree.) Decorate using photo as a guide.
- To soften cream cheese quickly, remove from wrapper, and place on microwavable plate. Microwave uncovered on High about 15 seconds or until just softened.
- Toothpicks help the dough to hold its tree shape while baking. Be sure to remove the toothpicks before decorating and serving.
- Turn the dough over during baking to give the rolls a flat side for decorating.
- Cool cinnamon rolls completely before decorating—this prevents the icing mixture from sliding off the sides due to the heat from the rolls.
